Biosafety Cabinet Class 2

Class 2 Biosafety Cabinets are intended to protect the operator, the environment, and the materials within the workspace. These Biosafety Cabinets are used to keep low-to-moderate risk biohazardous materials safe. These Biosafety Cabinets feature downward airflow and HEPA filters that re-circulate air, providing the necessary level of protection against microorganisms and aerosols. Because these Biosafety Cabinets are widely used in drug preparation, chemotherapy preparation, clinical research, the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, life science and industrial laboratories, and so on, they must adhere to application-specific standards.

Our leading biosafety cabinet manufacturer company based in India designs and manufactures biosafety cabinets. Biosafety cabinets are commonly used in laboratories where pathogens or other potentially dangerous microorganisms are present.

Different Names, Same Goal

A biosafety cabinet is known by several names in the research industry, including microbiological safety cabinet, biological safety cabinet (Acronym: BSC), and Biosafety hood.

Types of Class 2 Biosafety Cabinet

Biosafety Cabinets are typically designed in three types to meet varying research and clinical needs: Type A2, Type B1, and Type B2. Each cabinet, regardless of type, offers the same level of security. According to international sanitation standards, all of them must meet the same pass and fail criteria.

So, how do we distinguish each Class 2 Biosafety Cabinet? A number of factors distinguish each Biosafety Cabinet, including the amount of air re-circulation, air ventilation, and negative and positive pressure. Before purchasing a cabinet, a user should understand the fundamental differences between the three types of Biosafety cabinets, as explained below:

Class 2 Biosafety Cabinet Type A2: Approximately 70% of the HEPA filtered air circulates through the cabinet, while 30% passes through an exhaust HEPA filter and is discharged.

Class 2 Biosafety Cabinet Type B1: This Class II BSC exhausts 60% – 70% of the HEPA filtered air, while 30% – 40% of the air is re-circulated within the workspace via the HEPA filter.

Class 2 Biosafety Cabinet Type B2: There is no re-circulation inside the workspace, and the blower exhausts 100% of the filtered air.

Class II Biological Safety Cabinets Customized
